Weight-Lifting Cancelled
(N.ZJ’.A.-Reuter^—Copyright) DJAKARTA. August 31 The Indonesian organising committee today announced that the Asian Games weightlifting event has been cancelled. The committee said in a prepared statement that the event had been cancelled because the permit had been withdrawn by the International Weight-lifting Federation due to the abssme of Formosa and Israel. Of the 10 competing countries only Indonesia had said she would take part, and It seemed as It the games organising committee would go ahead. This would nave meant the suspension of the Indonesian Weieht-lifting Federation and all lifters taking part. They would have been excluded from International competitions.
