Gaol Sentence For Youth
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. August 31. Mr Justice Hardie Boys at Auckland today sentenced John William Good, aged 17. garage attendant, to five months' gaol. Good had been found guilty by a jury of causing death while under the influence of a drink or a drug so as to be incapable of having proper control of a car. His Honour said that while the policy of the law was to avoid sending persons of prisoner’s age to gaol, in extreme circumstances, and this was such a case, a gaol sentence was appropriate.
