CAR HITS POLE AT RANGIORA

Three Passengers Slightly Injured

A car crashing into a telephone pole interrupted some telephone connexions in the South belt area of Rangiora on Saturday evening. The accident happened at 8 30 p.m. when a front wheel came off a 1928 model sedan. The car came to rest after nose-diving into a ditch on the left side of the road. The telephone pole was snapped just below the cross arms. The car was driven by Brian Henry Johnson, aged 19. of Marshland. who bought the car recently for 2s 6d. Johnson and one of the four passengers. John Travers Cornwall Tissiman. aged 17. of Lyttelton, were not injured.

The other three passengers escaped with minor injuries and after treatment by Dr. R. L. Thompson of Rangiora were allowed to return home Those injured are Elaine Ester Johnson, aged 18. a sister of the driver. Lois Heese. aged 15, from New Brighton, and Vernon Warren Rickerby, aged 20, of Addington.
