Geddes In Final
(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Aug. 24
The joint favourites in the New Zealand amateur billiards championship at Invercargill, A Twohlll and E. Simons, were eliminated today. Twohill lost to G. Geddes and Simons, the remaining two-lifer, was beaten by Geddes and W. Harcourt.
At the end of the day the field was reduced to two, Geddes and Harcourt, who will meet in the final tomorrow. Results were:—
G. Geddes (North Otago) 410. A. Twohill (West Coast) 336; W Harcourt (Wellington) 499. J C’ark (West Coast) 324; Geddes 423 E. Simons (Canterbruy) 367; Harcourt 535, Simons 379.
MR P. ABENSOUR, of the University of Paris, who has been appointed a lecturer in French at the University of Canterbury under the scheme to have a French national on the modern languages staff. He was here two years ago on a New Zealand Government scholarship In French and is now completing a doctorate in Paris.
