Taxation
Sir.—May I suggest to the Government that some tax relief for old soldiers be considered? I retired 14 years ago, have not had a job since, and find taxation penalises a man who has worked and saved. I served on real active service for three years and a half in the First World War and three years in the last. I had good health in both wars; hence no pension. However, my Government superannuation, universal superannuation, and tax on investments I have mean I pay £ 120 a year in tax. Stiff treatment after serving one’s country and reaching the age of 73.—Yours etc.. NOR'-WEST BILL. August 23. 1962.
