Pit Stops
A “roadeo,” comprising driving tests for teenage drivers, is to be held at the city council’s Tuam street car park on September 1, starting at 9 a.m. Organised by the Christchurch junior chamber, the driving and knowledge of the road code will be judged by officials from the Canterbury Car Club and City Council traffic officers. Winners will compete in the New Zealand finals at Auckland later in the year. ★ The Mille Miglia may be held as a road race again next year. The event has not been held as a proper road race since 1957, although rallies have been held over the route in recent years. ★ Overseas formula one events in the next few weeks include the Copenhagen Grand Prix on August 25 and 26, the Oulton Park gold cup on September 1, and the Italian G.P. on September 16.
The 1963 Monte Carlo rally will be basically the same as for 1962. It will be held from January 19 to January 26. Seven works Citroens have been entered for the Liege - Sofia - Liege rally, which will be held from August 29 to September 2.
