rp HE new headquarters station of the Christchurch Metropolitan Fire Jj A Board in Kilmore street on the corner of Oxford terrace will be J 5 J * opened officially this afternoon by the Minister of Transport (Mr McAlpine). I* ** j! ** The £240,000 project was begun in May, 1960, and the move to the new station from the old Lichfield street premises, which had been the J 5 5 J headquarters for 50 years, was accomplishd smoothly earlier this month. *; *' The ceremony this afternoon will be limited to invited guests; but 5J J* tomorrow morning the station will be opened to inspection by the public, J 5 *J and the brigade will give a demonstration of drill and training.
