Moore Likely Choice

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE. August 23. The New Zealand Derby Stakes winner. Burgos, which is trained by T. J. Smith, is almost certain to be G. Moore's mount in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups, the Melbourne "Age” racing writer said today. Burgos is a leading fancy for both races.

He is doing well in his preparation. The gelding ran fifth to Sky High in the seven-fur-long Warwick Stakes at Warwick Farm last Saturday. He faces an important Caulfield Cup test in the £BOOO Metropolitan over 13 furlongs at Randwick dn October 1.

Smith nominated Burgos on Tuesday for the £4OOO Toorak Handicap, which will be decided over a mile at Caulfield on Saturday. October 13.

Burgos is a four-year-old by Sabaean out of Glad Tidings. Burgos worked impressively in a six furlongs hit-out at Randwick today. Burgos had Moviegoer tor a companion, their trial taking place on the grass, where flags were out 45ft.

The New Zealand horse proved too good for Moviegoer and shaded him at the finish of the trial, clocking Imin 191 sec. the best of the morning. Kandavu. another New Zealander now with T. J. Smith, impressed in a five furlongs trial, when he led Tunku and clocked Imin sJsec.
