S.I. UNDER-14 TOURNEY
Otago Team Was Unbeaten
(From Our Own Reporter) NELSON, August 23.
With a 6-0 win over Nelson at Victory Square today, Otego won the South Island under-14 soccer tournament. Otago was unbeaten throughout the tournament. and in its six games, scored 43 goals. Canterbury and Buller were second equal with eight points, but Canterbury was officially placed second on goal averages.
Buller, however, won the minor association's trophy. One of its players, D. Kerr, scored 16 goals, the highest Individual tally of the tournament. Today’s results were:— Canterbury 2. North Otago 0; South Canterbury 3, Malborough 0; Otego 6, Nelson 0. Fourteen players were chosen to comprise a South Island team: D. Phillips (Canterbury), G. Parker (Otago), J. Mitchell (Canterbury). K. Walsh (Buller), G. Boomer (Otago), D.
Almond (Canterbury), M. Ferguson (Otago), G. Phyne (South Canterbury), D Stenhouse (Otago), M. De Gestte (North Otago). S. White (Otago). D. Kerr (Buller), R. Neilson (Otago), and I. Walter (Canterbury).
