(N.Z. Press Association) GORE. Aug. 23. Gore High School A won the final of the South Island secondary schoolgirls' hockey tournament today, beating Timaru Girls’ High School. 4-1. in the final match. The teams were the section winners, each with four wins and a draw. Results in the fifth and final round were:—Christchurch Girls 1, Timaru Girls 1; Ashburton Technical 2, Darfleld High School 1; Queen's High School 5, James Hargest 1; Ashburton High School 4. Rangiora High School 2; Gore High School A 1. Gore High School B 0; Linwood High School 2. Sacred Heart 0.
Final points were:—Section A: Timaru 9. Ashburton Technical 7. Christchurch Girls 6. Queen's 5. Darfield 3. James Hargest 0. Section B: Gore A 9. Gore B 8, Linwood 7, Ashburton High 4, Rangiora 2, Sacred Heart 0.
Services’ Team To Tour Fiji
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug 23.
The Combined Services' hockey team to tour Fiji was announced today. It is: L. Clarke. W Evans (Navy): N. Chant. R. Wilson. L. Lloyd. D Milliken S Meadows. A. McOscar (Army); J Peacock. G Shewan. S. Hoyt. F Simmons F. Cave. M. L. Randle (Air Forcel, captain. The team will depart for Fiji on August 30. and will return to New Zealand on September 14. It will play seven games on the main island of Viti Levu and one at Levuka.
