SELWYN WINS PLAY-OFF
Champion For Ninth Year
Selw’yn won the Canterbury Table Tennis Association's A grade competition for the ninth consecutive season by beating Wallabies Red, 8-4, in a playoff this week. The teams had finished equal first at the end of 14 rounds. A feature of the match was the good showing of the lowestranked players, R. B. CcCallum (Selwyn) and M. A. Cox (Wallabies). Cox won three singles and McCallum two.
The total collapse of N. B. Radford who could have been expected to do best for Wallabies, was a surprise. Radford led McCallum bv one game to love and 20-15 In the second game, then lost concentration and the match.

V. N. Brightwell lost to M. A. Cox. 19-21. 21-18. 21-23: beat N. B. Radford, 21-11, 21-18: lost to K. F. Stevenson, 14-21, 21-23: T. R. D. Flint lost to Cox, 19-21, 21-18, 16-21; beat Radford, 21-16, 21-10; beat Stevenson, 21-15. 21-15; R B. McCallum lost to Cox. 19-21 4-21; beat Radford, 14-21. 21-23 21-18: beat Stevenson. 21-16, 21-8. Doubles.—Flint and McCallum beat Radford and Stevenson. 21-12. 18-21. 21-15; Brightwell and McCallum beat Cox and Stevenson. 21-14. 21-16: Brightwell and Flint beat Radford and Cox bv default.
