Miss G. Simpson, of Auckland, won the South Island women’s badminton singles title tonight when she convincingly beat Miss K. Williams, of Canterbury. 11-4, 11-1. Miss Simpson continued on her winning way when partnered by Mias S. Field (Otago), she won the women’s double* title from Miss A. Blampied (Southland) and Miss Williams, 18-15, 15-7. Other result* were:— Men’s Singles.—Semi-final: N. Thompson beat L. Hollands. 12- 15-6. 15-9: C Young beat N. Hamilton. 15-13. 15-14. Mixed Doubles.—Final: N. Thompson and Mrs L. Jones beat P. Skelt and Mrs D. Bay, 13- 17-14, 15-6.
