ROYAL VISIT TO FAIR
Security Strict
Strict security measures for the visit of the King of Thailand to the New Zealand Industries Fair this afternoon include a 6ft netting fence from the car park to the reception room at the southeast corner of Canterbury Court.
The Royal party will drive in the entrance gate to the fair ground and inside the fence up to the entrance of the reception room. The fence will separate the ticket box at the entrance, a chocolate wheel stall, the octopus and the crowd from the Royal route to the reception room. Two sideshow stalls on the inside of the fence will have to be moved for the afternoon. The stalls were leased on this condition.
The King will be an hour in Canterbury Court looking round the displays there. The public will be excluded from the court for this period and for half an hour before the King is scheduled to arrive. The Royal party will enter the court by the south-east entrance, 20 yards from the door of the reception room. This area is protected from the public by the fence. The entrance will not be opened until after the King has left the fair grounds. All those persons working on the displays in Canterbury Court have been screened by the security service.
