CHURCH DRAMA COMMITTEE
Methodists Give Support The idea of a Methodist Church drama advisory committee was supported by- the Synod of the North Canterbury district of the Methodist Church of New Zealand. The functions of such a committee would include experimenting in the wider and more varied use of drama as a medium of worship both within Methodism and on an inter-church basis, said the report of the New Zealand welfare of the church committee which was adopted by the synod. It would also collect information on plays and other dramatic forms that have been successfully used and make sueh information available on inquiry. A recommendation that standards of Christian leadership should be adopted to guide churches was adopted
A leader needed to have a sufficiently mature faith which could be “caught as well as taught,” said the report of the New Zealand Methodist Council of Christian Education. He also needed to be a sufficiently stable person to ensure good relations with those he led or taught The report was adopted. The recommendations will go forward to the Conference
of the Methodist Church of New Zealand to be held in Christchurch in November.
