Indoor Basketball FINE WIN BY Y BOYS
Competition Leader Beaten, 20-14 The competition leader. Boys' Gordon Hall A. was beaten by Y Boys in the Canterbury Men’s Basketball Association's competition matches at the Cowie' Stadium on Tuesday night. Y Boys played controlled basketball throughout, but Boys' Gordon Hall failed to master the fundamentals.
Boys’ Gordon Hall is still one point ahead of Y Boys, but it has two matches to play, whereas Y Boys have only one.
University A gave another enterprising display in beating Rex A, 59-32. This was University's sixth win by a score of 50 or more points. It has scored 790 points for the season. Y Boys have scored 558 points. Rex A 521, Wigram 508, and Bo'-s' Gordon Hall 466. Results of matches were:— A Grade.—Y Boys 23. Boys’ Gordon Hall A 14; University A 59. Rex A 32; Boys’ Gordon Hall B 31. Rex B 15; Wigram beat University B, by default. B Grade. —Bumsco beat Wigram, by default; Boys’ Gordon Hall 16, Y Boys 16; Bank of New South Wales 33. Jaycees 30: Deaf Boys 30. National Airways Corporation 26.
