TOURNAMENT AT WESTPORT
Primary Schools’ Matches Played (From Our Own Reporter) WESTPORT. Aug. 22. The Seddon Shield Districts primary schools Rugby tournament at Westport this week is developing into a washout. After the bad conditions yesterday there was little improvement today when the games were transferred from Victoria square to Patterson Park, which was also well saturated.
Rain had fallen consistently at Westport in the previous 36 hours.
In the matches yesterday Nelson beat Buller. 12-0. Tries were scored by P. Higgins (2). R. Tasker and G. Walsh. West Coast beat Golden Bav-Motueka by 3 points to 0. A try was scored by C. Stewart. Today. Coast adapted themselves better to the conditions to beat Marlborough. 9-6, and Buller beat Bays. 11-0.
