GUARD OF HONOUR
Tribute To Cadets (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Aug. 22. The bearing of the youthful guard of honour mounted for the King and Queen of Thailand’s visit to Wellington by the New Zealand Army Regular Force cadets was praised today by the Minister of - Defence (Mr Eyre). “This was a first-class demonstration by these young soldiers, whose average age is less than 17.” Mr Eyre said. “Both during the King’s arrival at Wellington Airport and at the State luncheon the boys were a credit to their service and their instructors.” The use of the cadets for such a responsible job had shown the public something of the value of the training these young soldiers received at the Regular Force Cadet School, at Waiouru. he said. Mr Eyre also complimented the band of the Ist Battalion. Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own) for its contribution to the welcome. The band, composed of Territorial Force soldiers, had spent considerable time learning the Royal Thai Anthem for the parade at the airport on Saturday, and for the Royal visit to Parliament Buildings on Monday, said Mi- Eyre.
