“Right Song” For Games

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 22. A harmonious song with a New Zealand flavour, if a suitable one can be found, will bo taken by the New Zealand team to the Empire Gaines in Perth. Mr C. M. Kay, manager of the team, is looking for a song and hoping for suggestions. He is also anxious for the team again to use the haka.

“A big New Zealand team will be at Perth,”

said Mr Kay today. “If we have the right song it could make a big Impression.”

Mr Kay said he did not have in mind a song of the “national anthem or Olympic hymn type.” He visualised a song similar in style to the South African “Sarie Marais” or the Australian “Waltzing Matilda.” Mr Kay said he had already mentioned the idea to likely members of the team and they had warmly supported it.
