Emergency Lifted

Guiana). Aug. 19. The Governor of British Guiana (Sir Ralph Grey) yesterday lifted the state of emergency ordered after the d sturbances of February 16 The s ate of emergency was declared throughout British Guiana on February 17 after the disorders in which five people were killed, 200 injured. and Georgetown’s business section was extensively damaged. The rioting broke out after the Premier (Dr. Jagan) had announced his Budget. When the situation deteriorated. Dr. Jagan asked the British Government to send troops to help restore law and order.
