Athletics Walker Leaves For Melbourne

Paul Westfield, one of New Zealand’s top walkers, left Wellington today for Melbourne, where he has been trsnsferrec on promotion. Mr Westfield, the younger son of Mrs C. R Westfield and the Ute Mr Westfield, of Haueia. a .so announced his engagement today to Miss Lesley Marjory Williamson. of New Plymouth
Mr Westfield was a foundation member and first president of the Taranaki Amateur Walking Club. He has twice won the national title over 20 kilometres in 1958 and 1962. and in between has been placed each year in either the 20 or 50kilometre national events In 1961 he was third over both distances He has also held numerous Taranaki and West Coast (North Island) centre championships.
