Opposition To E.E.C.

Full support of any opposition to Britain's entry into the European Economic Community has been assured by the Sydenham branch of the New Zealand Social Credit Political League in a telegram to the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake). A meeting of all major organisations in the Dominion was suggested by the branch so Mr Holyoake “could go to the Prime Ministers’ Conference as the leader of a united New Zealand determined to save the British Commonwealth of Nations.” The president of the branch (Mr J. Pounsford) said the object of the telegram was to encourage other organisations. regardless of sectional interests, to rally round the Prime Minister in this hour of need and assure him of their fullest support for a firm stand on the issue.
