Parliament’s Diary
Four bills, including three which implemented Budget provisions concerning remissions of taxation, were introduced and read a first time when Parliament resumed yesterday afternoon. They were the Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill, the Land and Income Tax Annual Bill, the Estates and Stamp Duties Bill, the Local Authorities Loans Amendment Bill.
The annual reports on the Cook, Niue and Tokelau islands were tabled. After discussing petitions during the afternoon, the House continued the second reading debate on the Commonwealth Fabric Corporation Bill in the evening. This was unfinished when the adjournment motion was taken at 10 p.m.
The adjournment debate was on the Ministerial announcement that there had been increased import licences for crockery.
