RARE AWARD TO AIRMAN
Presentation Al Wigrain Today
A clasp to ius Long Serv.ce and Good Conduct Medal wG be presented to Warrant Officer P A. Burrows during a parade at the Royal New Zealand Air Force staucn, Wigram. early this afternoon. Warrant Officer Burrows is the second New Zealand airman to be awarded toe clasp. The award marks 36 years of service in toe R N.Z A F. Now employed in a civilian engineering job. Warrant Officer Burrows will return to Wigram specially for toe presentation.
The first recipient of toe clasp, Flight Lieutenant F A Hallane, qualified in 1949 after service with toe Roya l Marines, the New Zealand Permanent Air Force, and later toe R.N.Z.A.F. A Long Service and Good Conduct Medal will be presented to Leading Aircraftman W. C. Larkin. Two Army observer p lot'. Lieutenants W. Steward a:.d B C. Bilger, will recete their wings from toe future chief of staff at Southern Military District Headqua - tens (Lieutenant-Cotonel R. J. Moore). Colonel Moore is also toe Army's senior pilot Lieutenants Steward and Bilger have completed about five months' flying training in Harvard® and Austers at Wigrain.
For toe first time there will be a fly-past by three Auster aircraft during the ceremony.
