WORRYING DOGS
Sheep Forced Off Cliff (N.Z. Press Association i NEW PLYMOUTH. August 14. Many sheep were forced off a high cliff and drowned in the sea tpid others bitten to death or badly mutilated by two worrying dogs at the Opunake golf course this morning. Although no accurate tally has yet been taken, the owner. Mr I. H Segar. who leases the ground for grazing considered the loss could be as high as 40 or 50 out of a flock of 250 in-lamb ewes. All the ewes were either due to lamb, or ha ’ just lambed The known losses tonight were eight dead ewes. 22 dead lambs. 10 ewes so badly mutilated that they would probably have to be destroyed, and eight lambs badly bitten # about the face, which Mr Segar tool' to his home property at Te Kiri, where he was trying to bottle-feed them The dogs were seen by several persons about 9 a.m.
