Traffic Delay
More than 100 cars were delayed half an hour by a big horse float that jackknifed and blocked the Waicuru-Buils highway on Sunday. Both sections of the Auckland float swung across the road as the vehicle was negotiating a corner on the hills between Taihape and Mangaweka about 6.30 p.m. The float was straightened again and set moving after half an hour with the aid of a tractor and people from the delayed vehicles. Most of the traffic was travelling south, and vehicles, many with skiers returning from a week-end on Mount Ruapehu, lined the highway for a great distance.—(P.A.)
