MARKING OF PAPERS
Support For Executive Complete support for the policy of its nation'! executive in the disioute over school certificate marking was expressed at a general meeting cf the Canterbury region of the New Zealand Post-primary Teachers' Association. the president of the region (Mr H. C. Evison) said in a statement last evening. The meeting passed a resolution expressing confidence in the executive’s policy. “That this resolution was passed with only one dissentient should he-’n to dispose of the allegations published in last week’s newspapers claiming that the association's policy had been the work of a few militants ‘‘No-one wielded the ‘big stick’; it was a spontaneous expression of loyalty and support for the association's national leaders.” he said. “Our members have difficulty in feeling the same confidence in the Minister of Education, who professes to believe in the justice of his case in refusing to increase marking fees, yet uses the resources of the Government to prevent the dispute from going before the Government Service Tribunal for arbitration,” said Mr Evison.
