FARMING AWARDS
Recognition For Waimate Man TN.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 6. A. C. Cameron Memorial Gold Medal awards for progressive farming have been made to Mr D. Land. of Otane, and Mr E. J. Wilson, of Waimate. Certificates of merit have been granted to the runnersup. Messrs R. W. Griffin <Te Puke), J. T. Lusty (Kaiwaka) and N. O Moffat (Balclutha). The awards are made annually to the farmer in each island who is not more than 45 and who has been an active member of a Young Farmers’ club. The name of the awards was changed in 19S1—formerly they were called the Royal Agricultural. Society’s silver medal award —in recognition of the services of the late Mr A. C. Cameron, to the Royal Agricultural Society, of which he was for many years an executive committee member, and to the Y.F.C. Federation, of which he was a founder and the first Dominion president.
Mr Land will receive his medal at the Royal Show and Mr Wilson will receive his at a special function in Waimate on September 5.
