COLD SNAP IN NORTH
Temperatures In Forties (N Z Press Association) AUCKLAND. August 6. Today was the coldest August day in Auckland for 47 years. The maximum temperature recorded in Albert Park was only 49 2 deerees. Not since August. 1915 when the temperature dropped to 48.5 degrees—the lowest since records were kept—has a lower maximum temperatures been recorded for the month. The cold spell was felt over most of the North Island. At 3 p.m. the temperature m Wellington was about the the same as that in Auckland —45 degrees. Kinleith. Taupo and Waiouru were even colder with 43 degrees during the afternoon. The cold spell, was accompanied by light to moderate rain over most of the Auckland province.
