Table Tennis Town Beats Country In Annual Match
The Town table tennis teams recorded a comfortable 58-22 victory over the Country representatives when the teams met in their annual fixture in Christchurch on Sunday evening Town won the senior events 44-12. and the junior events 14-10. Town fielded very strong teams in this contest, and it was the wins of the Country players which merit praise The best of these was the defeat of Town’s Miss F Inglis. the Canterbury women’s singles champion, by Mrs Y Boulton of Country in the top women’s match Mrs Boulton was too steady in the concluding stages of this match, although her opponent’s play suffered because she had spent most of the day travelling back from Dunedin after the Canterbury v Otago representative match on Saturday evening Another Country player to do well was Miss M Mac Kay of Mid-Canterbury She lost only very narrowly to the 1961 S'nth Islend representative. Mrs A Williamson, the score being 13-21. 21-19 21-19
