FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A cold front is moving away to the north-east of the North Island and a ridge of high pressure is advancing on to the South Island from the Tasman Sea. Forecast.— Canterbury.—Light to moderate variable winds: weather fine with widespread frosts at night; temperatures cold. Outlook: fine at first but some showers may develop late in the day. Marlboiough. Nelson, Buller and Westland.— Light to moderate variable winds, easterlies predominating in most places; weather fine and cold with frosts at night.
