FEWER DEATHS IN CITY
Decrease Of 71 In July Seventy-one fewer deaths occurred in Christchurch last month compared with July, 1961, and there have been 133 fewer since the beginning of the year than there were in the seven months last year. Figures were released by the Registrar of Births. Deaths and Marriages in Christchurch (Mr J. Millar) This year 1134 marriage notices have been issued. 76 mbre than last year and 252 of the marriages have been by the registrar. 40 more than last year. Marriages by the registrar in July also increased. by 17. Births followed the trend of recent years with a rise of 93 for the seven months and of 33 for the month. The figures for July, with those for July last year in parenthesis, are: Births, 476 <443): deaths, 226 (297); marriage notices issued. 130 (113); marriages by • registrar, 40 (23). The figures for seven months are: Births. 3418 (3335); deaths, 1350 (1463); marriage notices issued, 1134 1058); marriages by registrar, 252 (212).
