GLADSTONE PIER
“Very Tricky Operation” “We are doing a very tricky operation, and there is bound to be some movement of the pier.” the eng:neer-in-chief (Mr J. A. Cashin) reported to the Lyttelton Harbour Board yesterday on settlement cf the reclamation near Gladstone Pier. “We are trying to get al! the movement to the east,” he said Reporting on other harbour works. Mr Cashin said the elevated roadway project was now half completed. The building of piers was completed during the month. 16 precast concrete beams were placed. 10 steel girders fabricated and 60ft of concrete decking poured.
