ALPINE VILLAGE AT OHAKUNE

High-Level Site Planned “The Press" Special Service WANGANUI, August 1. Plans for an alpine village at 6000 feet on the Ohakune mountain road will be discussed when the Tongariro National Park Board inspects the area with representatives of the New Zealand Ski Association. Planners envisage a'highlevel village site, past the Mangawhero Falls, already reached by a new road, and a low-level village near Ohakune. The Mountain Road Association and borough council representatives will go to Wellington soon to ask the National Roads Board to do all the maintenance on the mountain road. Plant for the Ohakune side’s first ski-tow was recently hauled in position at he end of the road.
