GOLDEN KIWI DRAWS

Explanation By Organisers (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Aug. 1. The Golden Kiwi lottery organisers, Hammond and McArthur, Ltd., have been unable to hold a lottery drawing this week because drawings have been carried out at such a rate that district agents have been unable to get their butts in quickly enough, a spokesman for the organisation said today.

Up to now drawings have averaged two a week. The last drawing was last Thursday. Lottery N& 47 will be drawn tomorrow. The lag between drawings will happen occasionally, the spokesman continued. Drawings will be back to normal running next week. Lottery sales had dropped off slightly in the South Island but this has not had much effect on the overall sales, he said. It was interesting to note that ticket sales rose where a district won a major prize, he said.

Ano'her interesting point was the prejudice which still existed against buying tickets with low numbers.
