Strong Demand For New Zealand Shares
I here was a strong demand for leading New Zealand shares yesterday, and most price movements were again upward.
Meat Packers rose further to sell at 9s 6d, making a total gain of 3s since the share placement earlier this year. New Zealand Fanners’ Co-operative and Kaiapoi Woollens B were two Christchurch issues which sold at enhanced prices. Farmers’ Fertiliser and L. D. Nathan made the sharpest losses.
B.H.P. fell further to sell at 50s. The other falls shown by Australian shares were also recorded by leading issues, but Kauri and Ampol contributing notes made good gains.
New Zealand issues made 17 gains and eight losses, overseas issues four gains and five losses.
