Pay Increases For Curates

WELLINGTON. July 10. New standard minimum stipends for assistant curates in the Wellington diocese were instituted today The synod decided that the standard minimum annua! stipend for a deacon should be £6OO. to a priest, for the first vear £650. and thereafter £7OO. with, in all cases a house or an adequate house allowance. For a parish assistant for the first three years £6OO. for the next three years £650 and thereafter £7OO a year.
