S.A. SEEKS MIGRANTS
Skilled, Fit Whites
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) GENEVA, July 10. The South African Minister of Immigration (Mr Trollip) said today that the number of inquiries regarding emigration at South Africa House in London had risen from 80 to 400 a day, British United Press reported. He said in Geneva that he wanted the Inter-Govern-mental Committee for European Migration to send some of its refugees into South Africa. Asked if South Africa would take Chinese refugees from Hong Kong, he said: “No, we have troubles enough of our own.” Mr TroHip said his country was seeking skilled and fully-fit white migrants, the Associated Press reported. “We offer free passages and a £3O grant to members of families who are 100 per cent, medically fit and fully willing to come to our country,” he said.
