THE NATIONAL OLYMPIC STADIUM.—FocaI point of the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games, the National Stadium is located at Olympic Park, near the centre of Tokyo. A huge elliptical embankment will be built in the near future at one side of the stadium. This will increase the present seating capacity of 85,000, to a maximum of 100,000. The arena as it now stands, was completed in 1958, for the Third Asian Games. Grouped around the structure, are other major sports facilities, such as the Metropolitan Indoor Swimming Pool and Gymnasium. New access roads, parking lots, and lighting equipment for the stadium, will be completed in time for the 18th Olympiad.
