Retailers are finding that men have had enough of the autumn colours—tones of green and brown—that have almost monopolised knitwear fashions for the last 18 months. Blue is coming strongly into women’s fashions and the trade predicts that blue will be popular with men, too, next year. Black, red and cardinal colours are expected to share the popular colour range with blue. The last two years have seen great improvements in the standard of knitwear, mainly because of the importation of better machinery and overseas technical experts. The finish of knitted garments is of a high standard now, and the variety of design in stitch, pattern and colour combinations is much wider.
