R. J. BAIN AT ROTORUA
Former Trainer Of Oreka

The former South Islander. R. J. Bain, arrived in Rotorua on Monday to take up an appointinent as private trainer to Mr and Mrs W. J. Costello. Bain prepared Oreka to win the 1060 New Zealand Cup.
Bain has been employed outside racing most of the time since arriving back from Australia last April. He was recently granted a jockey's licence, and has applied for another trainer’s licence.
Bain prepared Oreka, from Hawera. when as a four-year-old the Targui gelding set an Australian and New Zealand record for 11 furlongs at Trentham, running 2min Usee while still a hack. Oreka also won the Taranaki Cup that autumn. The Costello team at Rotorua has four members.
