BURNSIDE STOCK SALE
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. July 10. The quality was much better for the larger yardings of fat cattle offered at the Burnside sale today. The entry numbered 355 head. There were a lot fewer pens of the light and unfinished cattle which have been present on recent, weeks. Cows and heifers were also in shorter supply and were mostly a little dearer, especially cows. The sale opened at values on a par with last week, and these values were more or less maintained throughout. There was another good yarding of fat sheep, numbering 2821 about 400 fewer than last week. Once again a large part of the yarding was made up of ewes. Although there was a fair entry of wethers, there were not many really good quality, a number of the cons'gninents being of medium to light quality. The sale opened on a bright tone and good quality hoggets were 3s to 4s dearer. Six-tooth and older wethers sold well in olaces, but were erratic at times.
Really good ewes sold on a par to a shade easier while light and poor quality were a few shillings dearer.
There was a small number of lambs. numbering 163. with nothing of much quality, however. the demand was quite good for those offered.
