TEA COUPONS FOR HOSPITAL FUND
Good Response To Appeal
By the end of the year Mr P. J. Twomey, secretary of the Lepers' Trust Board, expects to have more than three-quarters of a million tea coupons
Hundreds of coupons are arriving daily at his office in answer to an appeal for tea coupons which can be cached to raise funds for a new hospital treatment centre in the Solomon Islands.
Mr Twomey expects the target of £3OOO to be reached by the end of the year. He expressed his thanks yesterday to the tea-distributing firms for co-operating, and said mothers and children in particular were the most enthusiastic collectors. The hospital will be erected in permanent materials, and will be built exclusively from the proceeds of the coupons. It will bear a plaque dedicating it to the “Tea Drinkers of New Zealand.” ’
