The "Daily Telegraph" said Mr Bidault fled France in

His Parliamentary immunity from arrest on charges of subversive activity had been lifted by the French Assembly. The report said Mr Bidault made it clear that the aim of the council was to overthrow the de Gaulle regime. He said the council’s programme was to re-estab! .sh the "fundamental rights that have been destroyed in France." and resume with Algeria "the ties that have been broken except in speeches." The newspaper said Mr Bidault scoffed at French reports that he had been designated leader by Raoul Salan. the imprisoned military head of the Secret Army Organisation.
