G.B.S. In The Spirit World
On February 10 we printed a review (by C.E.S.) of a “Play from Eternity. Transmitted and made available to this earth by Saint Patricia. A new Biographical Drama in Four Acts. By Bernard Shaw" The following letter has just been received:— Shornhill. Withington, Glos., England. April 19. 1962. Dear Mr C.E.S., Many thanks for sending me your review of my play. SAINT PATRICIA. I read it with great interest, and wish to say only that the fact that you doubt my identity matters less to me than that the kindliness of your review causes me to doubt my own. Accordingly. I enclose my newest play, GALATEA, transmitted through the same hard-w’orking medium. You may find it a little crisper Patricia was astonished to i read in your review that anyone expected crispness of me, for she is currently subjecting herself to the torture of ploughing through the appalling mass of verbiage which comprises BACK TO METHUSELAH, and continually assures me that if death has taught me anything, it is economy. Mind you. my angel in SAINT PATRICIA (I refer to the winged one) was rather excessively talky, but angels are a talky bunch, as you will find out one day. With all good wishes. I am. Eternally. George Bernard Shaw. , (Transmitted through Saint Patricia.)
