MOTOR SPIRITS LICENSING

Sitting Adjourned To August The Motor Spirits Licensing Authority was unable to complete the hearing of applications in the allotted time for its Christchurch sitting, and the sitting was yesterday adjourned. A special sitting will be held on August 9 and 10 at which the remainder of the applications will be heard. The authority—Messrs R. W. Edgley (chairman). H. L. Wise, and J. L Hazlett—yesterday refused C J. Fitzgibbon (Mr A. C. Perry) a licence for two pumps to be Installed at service station and garage premises. The application was opposed by- Lett’s Store. Ford and Spicer Lester and Sporer, and the Papanui Service Station (Mr R. B, Shand). An application by Warner's Truck and Car Sales, now E. and M. Motors. Ltd. (Mr Shand), to shift one pump about 15ft at garage premises in Worcester street, was granted, but an application to install a premium grade pump was refused. It was opposed by the After Hours Service Station (Mr Perry) and the New Zealand Retail Motor Trade Association (Mr W. J. Waddell). The authority granted Church Bay Services (Mr R. J. de Goldi) a temporary licence, to expire on July 31. 1963. for one pump, and gave permission for sales other than through pumps. The application was opposed by the Godley Guest House (Mr J L. Anderson). An application by Straven Services, Ltd (Mr H. W Hunter) to take over from G Mortlock a licence for two pumps at premises in Fendalton was adjourned sine die. It was opposed by the Fendalton Service Station (Mr J. R. Woodward) and the New Zealand Retail Motor Trade Association (Mr Waddell).
