LORD MAYOR SIGNALS THE FLYING SCOTSMAN AWAY.—The Lord Mayor of London (Sir Frederick Hoare) signals the Flying Scotsman out of Kings Cross station. The train was starting a journey celebrating the hundredth birthday of the run. The first Flying Scotsman left London for Edinburgh in June, 1862. Today, the journey takes six hours. One hundred years ago travellers left the train at York for a meal.
