Maori, Four Fijians

DUNEDIN, June 17.

A student from Holy Cross College, Mosgiel, will be ordained as the first Maori secular priest in New Zealand within the next few weeks. He is Mr H. Tate, who will be returning to his home at Panguru, Bay of Islands. Sixteen students will be leaving the college for different par s of the country over the next few weeks to be ordained as priests. Among them are four Fijians who will return home for their ordination. The principal of the college, Father B. Courtney, said today that although Mr Tate would become the first secular priest there had been a Marist father who was Maori.
