WELLINGTON. June 17.

Television in Britain is emancipating the public and broadening their outlook, in the opinion of Mr A E Morris, a former television executive.

With his wife and two children. Mr Morris arrived at Wellington in the liner Oranje on Saturday Formerly on the staff of 4ZB Dunedin, Mr Morris joined Associated Redifusion. the biggest commercial television station outside America in 1955 as outside broadcast producer. During the last three years he has been responsible for he light entertainment department of Redifusion and has looked after the light entertainment programme for •he London part of the commercial network

“It is a most expensive medium." he said. "When people start thinking In terms of the introduction of

television, they consider television to be sound broadcasting with pictures. This is quite wrong. It is absolutely different and the cost is fantastic.”

Mr Morris has found that television audiences tend to become more discriminating “There are, obviously, people who come home and turn on television and sit here for the whole evening.” he said.
