LAMPADA TIPPED

Stakes At Waipa

“The Press* Special Service AUCKLAND, June 15. With all his weight, Lampada looks the one to beat in the Woodstock Stakes, the first leg of the T.A.B. double at Te Awamutu tomorrow. Lampada has 9-9—lllb more than Dashing Star, the next-weighted of his opponents, but taking into account the winter scale it does hot seem too much of a handicap. A good many of the horses Lampada will be meeting in the Woodstock Stakes are only moderate. Except for Dashing Star and Balzac none had won recently in open company and some, like Black Lad, Beau Way and the light-weights Redex, Red Luca and Top Liner, are right out of form. The hardest for Lampada to beat might be Uppercut and Simca, which comes from the same stable as Lampada, that of A. Cook, Lampada and Simca, however, run in different ownerships, so they will not be bracketed on the totalisator. . Anywhere, Golden Echo and Jovic are three of the smart winter sprinters in the second leg, the' Kihikihi Handicap, seven furlongs. Each is a solid finisher when in form, with a liking for Te Awamutu. The prospects are for fair weather and a soft track. Selections:— 11.15 a.m.—Orakau Hurdles: Royal Count Peterzami. Royal Willonyx. . 11.50 a.m.—Arapuni Handicap: Friendly Trio.
