Edwards (Opposition, Napier) at ques- • tion time in the House of Representatives today when the Minister of Education (Mr Tennent) said that it was not Government policy that purity of Aryan blood was more important than academic qualifications in a secondary school teacher. Mr Tennent said that another circular had been sent out to correct a misunderstanding, but the policy had been carried on without question under the Labour Government. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Nash): Can any such instruction by the labour Government be produced? Mr Tennent: It was exactly the same policy. The circular dealt with recruiting of teachers from the United states by education boards.
Sheep Spraying Changes
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 14. Because the prescription of standards for sheep-spraying apparatus has proved impracticable. the law is to be changed back to the pre-1958 requirement that sheep spraying be done with an "effective” apparatus. A Stock Amendment Bill to effect this was introduced to the House of Representatives today.
